PRE-Company required to take Petite Ballet & Petite Jazz Tech (weekly rehearsal)
PRO-Company required to take Petite Ballet, Petite Jazz Tech, Petite Tap (weekly rehearsal)
Petite Level: Ages 6-8
Petite (mini) Ballet: This beginning level class is designed to develop awareness of alignment and basic ballet vocabulary and technique. Class will include basic barre exercises, as well as center work.
Petite (mini) Tap: This structured class focuses on teaching tap technique while developing rhythm and timing. Dancers will be taught basic steps and vocabulary that will later be combined into more complex combinations or routines. Ballet is required.
Petite Acro: Acro teaches floor and aerial movements through conditioning exercises and rhythmic tumbling passes. This class helps students develop flexibility, balance, and body control while improving agility and strength. This class is geared toward dancers at the introductory level.
Petite Hip Hop: Hip Hop is a commercialized style influenced by jazz and street dance. Hip Hop exhibits strong, sharp movement and incorporates floor work and fast footwork. This class is geared toward dancers in the introductory level.
Petite (mini) Jazz Tech: This is a high-energy class that focuses on isolations, skills, and performance quality through classical and modern jazz technique. Dancers will be encouraged to use individual expression and develop their self-confidence. Ballet is required.
Petite Contemporary Contemporary is a fusion of modern, jazz, lyrical, and ballet. Contemporary stresses an importance on the dynamics of music and movement through expressive choreography.Ballet is required.
Petite (mini) Strength & Technique: This is a class meant to break down technique and increase the dancer’s strength and stamina in order to improve overall quality of performance. Focus will be on balance, strength, stretch and keeping dancer’s healthy and strong throughout the year.
Musical theatre (ages 6-10) Musical Theatre is a jazz-based class that focuses on dance styles found in Broadway musicals. Students not only learn dance technique, but also work on acting skills and performing with emotion and stage presence.
Disclaimer: Thrive Faculty and Staff reserves the right to do what is best for each individual dancer. This means upon evaluation, dancers may be moved up or down age levels to best fit their ability and create the most opportunity for individual growth.
